Hey guys, so I'm not sure you noticed but I took a pretty serious blog break this last year.
Not sure why, I just babbled on Zuckernerd's Book whenever I wanted to get my thoughts out there. I've come to find that I'm not a huge fan of The Book or Twitter really. I think I just love my old timey blog, it's like a sweatshirt from some college I couldn't afford to go to, it's very comforting. I thought I'd start by posting this flyer I made yesterday for a dance party I'm doing with some super cool bros on Friday night in the backroom at Union Pool. The Ritual

This was also due to my 2 older buds in college being super Anglophiles that played darts and listened to Oasis and didn't take shit off of anyone. They once fought some guys from the local Army base at a bar with a mechanical bull. They typically got the jump on peckerwoods starting shit because they figured 2 dudes that looked like they tried out to play bass in Blur couldn't fight. I never had as much fun in my life as i did raising hell with those dudes. Cheers.

Hey guys, i thought i would share my 72 hour trip to Los Angeles. I've been told to keep up with my blogging. This is my first post since July, obviously this is a top priority due to becoming famous since then. Moving on, I went out to LA for an opening I'm in and a little drawing event. Just keep reading and all will be explained. This photo show me enjoying my first passion in life, taking stupid photos.

This is my mini-show at TENOVERSIX. It was pretty intense with the live models and all.

But i had a gin gimlet and just tried to act natural. I kinda stuck out at this thing being the only male there that didn't look like a "Twilight" stunt double. It's cool though, God don't make no junk.
Warm-up portrait of Gia. I sent this to Megan and she replied "Great portait!, Looks nothing like Gia though". If that isn't a testament to my portrait skills i don't know what is.

This is the after party that Dexter put together in the storefront at her studio. The idea was that i would draw extremely fast portraits for 3 hours. I really thought i could draw way faster than i actually can. This night put my talents to the test as you will see. Plus, i painted this ghost cat directly after being on a plane for 6 hours, you can practically see me losing my mind in the cats line work. Woof!

Sunday i went with Gia and Nick to the beach in Malibu. I think i bummed Gia out by doing Super Dave Osbourne/Funkhauser/Bob Einstein impressions, (it's easy just say "Larry" like you are taking your last breath before dying) sorry dude, i have problems. The beach turned out to be super rocky. So, the surf was definitely NOT up. Sorry bras!

This beach translates to "The Matador". Hey California, you don't have to give everything a spanish name. That's just lazy.

We made a sand sculpture of our 16th president. I originally called it "Abrasand Lincoln" but, after we started talking about Gore Vidal's revelation that he was a repressed homosexual and putting a flower behind his ear, we landed on "Gaybraham Lincoln". We didn't have time to do a Mary Todd, plus it would have been a pretentious and boring sand sculpture.

As we were leaving, the heavens opened up. It was as if God was saying "Bye, Ya'll"

After Mexican food in Hippy Canyon we went to this party in Silverlake. I didn't know the hosts and I didn't know what the party was for. However, i do know that they had a teepee in the yard. Peace ya'll!
Nick, Nate and I left the party kinda early to go to a Pulp Fiction style diner and have a coffee and made speeches like they do in those amazing movies from the 90's. We covered all the relevant topics, Madonna, Quarter Pounders w Cheese, and the Smurfs, it was riveting, you should've been there . Then I got very excited about the above photo. It's Nate's medicinal dope certificate. I was very stoked on this until i saw that he was born in 1985. Then i felt like an old creep.

Here's the cat i painted during the daytime. You can really see the detail, a true masterpiece.

Hear The Lamentations of the Women

We partied at Judi's on friday after a screening of "The Wrestler"... We then expanded our minds and watched Conan the Barbarian (1982) on digital cable... I had a major revelation about the films anti-hippie message, but everyone couldn't stop laughing long enough for me to share it... So here it is, it concerns John Milius, who directed the film and Oliver Stone, who wrote it... Stone being a vietnam verteran, and Milius being a bit of a gun nut (the character Walter Sobchack played by John Goodman in The Big Lebowski is closely based on Milius) ... the film's main plot is about a king's daughter who joins a snake cult who worships a shape shifting holy man named Thulsa Doom... the king hires Conan to bring his daughter back, which he gladly accepts seeing as Doom murdered his entire family when he was a child... long story short, Conan exacts his revenge and beheads Doom in front of his followers at his temple... I imagined Stone and Milius were referencing Jim Jones, Manson, etc... and the snake cult representing the "Me" generation of the 1970's... Conan represents the idea of the soldier, driven by a code of honor and service that was derided and demonized in the media, post 'Nam... If Altamont was the slap of reality that ended the 60's, Conan the Barbarian marks the end of the 70's and ushers in a new age of films(Platoon, First Blood, Full Metal Jacket, Missing In Action, etc...) that celebrates the call of duty and elevates the action sequence to new heights.... Or maybe i was just wasted, who knows....

So we went to see Motorhead, Heaven and Hell, and Priest...this bullshit picture cost 10 dollars to download!!!...so i stole the preview from the webpage...still worth it....here's how the evening broke down...

Big turn out for Motorhead...Lemmy was pretty much unintelligible, but they played Overkill and it was amazing...I even waited in line with bottom feeding mutants for a Motorhead shirt..."Yo, You got Heaven and Hell in 3x?"...It was worth it though.
This is the stage for Heaven and Hell...They are sorta like the metal band for the red wine scene...Dio had a real hard-on about the beach balls...His lady blouse sparkled and was made of velveteen...also they didn't do Neon Knights, they only song he does that trumps the Ozzy stuff...i wanted my 10 dollars back.

Judi had us over to watch the premier of Tim And Eric Awesome Show Great Job...and, being the world class hostess she is, couldn't help herself and purchased 45 dollars worth of shrimp from Trader Joes...did i mention this show comes on at 12:30 am?...did i mention judi has "shrimp" in a foreign language tattoed on her arm?...this info will help set the scene.
finally the meal has arrived and we can start eating!...shrimp make megan violently ill to even think about, so that left me, adam, and jeff...adam remarked he needed a few beers first, which i guess means he needed some courage building before we could embark on this journey.
i think when it was all over, maybe 10 shrimp were eaten between the 5 of us...i wonder why no one wanted shrimp cocktails at midnight?...i wonder how megan kept from vomiting?
this has to be an exsisting fetish...words can't describe the level of queaziness this induces....Thanks for the memories!...oh, and p.s., the new episode was amazing...can't wait for next sunday!

NYC bound...we went immediately to Anna Maria's on Bedford and then i immediately got sick, right on schedule...i managed to hang at Daddy's for a sec and hear some of Mcleod's jams...Andy told me he once overheard Diamond Dave say "I used to come here to see the circus man! (then he swigs a bottle of Jack) Now I am the fucking circus!". Nuff said.

Holy Shirt!!!...Halen!!!...they did "I'm The One" second...we nearly cried with joy...that stage setup was all wrong, that "S" needs to be a "V"...am i right?...didn't matter though, they fucking ripped...let the records show that Alex Van Halen is easily the best live drummer on earth...i was pissing when he started the opening drum roll on "Hot for Teacher", i nearly zipped my dick up running out to the stands...Eddie still shreads too and Wolfgang kind of looks like Jack Osbourne, go figure.

Halen Blimp! or zeppelin, not totally sure...it did have a camera on it though, maybe we will be on VH1 Legends or something...it should be noted i'm pretty wasted at this point and losing patience rapidly.

This kind lady wouldn't sell me 2 beers because i had one in my hand...party fouled on a technicality...at this point the worst band i've ever heard is wrapping up their amazing set.

Hard to see the stage, i know...this is the opener...i forget his name because i made a special promise to myself to do that...they were basically a world music band with super positive AA style lyrics about being positive...needless to say i nearly horfed up my Waborita...these guys covered "Let it Be" but explained that they "changed some of the lyrics"...apparently, The Beatles need some punching up for the Izod Center.

Ok, by this point we are looking for our seats and this is a pretty acurate portrayal of my actual vision at the time...it was so smokey in there because they run smoke machines all day to make it more awesome when the band goes on...jayson explained this to me because he toured with High on Fire and shit like that...i should also explain that i've never been to an arena rock show in all my life...jayson on the other hand, saw Anthrax in like 1990.

So this guy had the best set-up of the night...home-made flags, puffy stickers from the 1984 album, drunk leathery moms drinking pinas, and an open trunk playing every Roth Halen record in order...Jayson said there was a rule in hardcore where you couldn't listen to the band you were going to see 24 hours in advance or you would jinx the show, with rock dudes you ONLY listen to that band 24 hours in advance...in case you are curious, yes that is a home-made Diver Down flag that says "Van Halen Kicks Ass" in iron-on letters...at this point i am pretty much in heaven and half-and-half*

*watch heavy metal parking lot again if you need the definition

i went to see neil young last night for the first time...an artist i have loved for more than half of my life...i finally coughed up 140 something to take meg to see the old man...since i never go to big rock shows i forget what turds most baby boomer rock fans are...during neils acoustic opener you could hear somebodies mom talk about how "A Man Needs A Maid" is her favorite song on "After The Gold Run"...not to mention some Becky doing the Phish dance to "Heart Of Gold", bear in mind we were all seated in the balcony of a church...classy...i yelled out "Mom you're embarressing me" and promptly got hit in the arm by meg...then during the intermission we tried to stand at the edge of the balcony to see the mish mash of stuff on the stage...the second the lights dimmed some tub of goo yells "ok back to your seats"...not an usher or an authority figure, just some dickhead who apparently needed a perfect view of crazy horse tuning...but the second the band went into "The Loner" i realized what i was seeing and how much i fucking love neils electric shit with the Horse...in short, i had a blast, boomers and all....oh, and im doing pet portraits now, so hit me up...holla.
